Itinerary · Ceará & Maranhão, Brazil
The route
An epic kitesurfing expedition through the wildest landscapes of Brazil's Northeast — from Preá to Atins, deserted coastlines, remote fishing villages and the legendary Lençóis Maranhenses.
Day by day
Starting from Preá, famous for its strong and steady wind. We pass by Guriú for a snack and water break before heading toward Tatajuba — a spot offering a perfect mix of flat, shallow water and waves, with a breathtaking sunset to close the first day.
An adventure along a wild and untouched coastline. A mix of slightly choppy flats and beautiful wave sections. Arrival at Maceió's secluded beach and authentic fisherman's town.
Now that you've warmed up, this is the trip's first big expedition. Starting with flat sections but also some choppy waves around the estuary, passing by lovely Curimãs — a remote fishing village — and finishing in Barra Grande, a lively village with a variety of bars and restaurants. Chill vibes and good ambiance will meet you there.
Ready for new challenges? After an immense beach, you'll arrive at the entrance of the Delta, where a boat will be waiting to accompany and watch over you until you reach the accommodation. Be ready to be stunned by the biodiversity and unbelievable landscape.
A well-deserved day off to relax and enjoy the beauty of the delta — the 3rd largest in the world — and the wonders of its biodiversity. Explore the fauna of the delta by boat, with the chance to see alligators and red ibis at sunset, a breathtaking experience.
The downwinder becomes wilder, going through remote landscapes. The adventure does not get more authentic as you ride in the middle of deserted lands. Changing riding conditions will lead you to Arpoador, where you'll feel fully immersed in this preserved town.
The cherry on top of this trip — we make it to the entrance of Lençóis Maranhenses and the chill town of Atins. Congratulations, you've just accomplished one of the most beautiful downwinders on earth!
On this last riding day, choose to ride on-site or explore the lagoons of Lençóis Maranhenses National Park — arguably one of the world's natural wonders. Or simply relax and take it easy: you've now accomplished one of the most epic downwinders in the world. Congrats — it looks like nothing can stop you now, as long as the wind blows!
We can organise your transfer back if needed, to the location that suits you best — unless, of course, you'd rather stay around. Thank you for trusting us, we'd love to see you again in the future for new adventures!
