Self-rescue, step by step

Self-rescue, step by step

Self-rescue is the one skill we ask every rider to be confident in before joining a downwinder — because on a point-to-point trip, help can be a little further away than at your local spot.

The core idea: depower the kite fully, gather the lines hand-over-hand back to the canopy, and use it to body-drag yourself toward shore or a pickup point.

We run a refresher with every group on day one, in calm, shallow water — so it's a formality you've practised, not a panic move you're discovering for the first time.
