Ilha do Guajiru

A wide, shallow lagoon behind a sandbar: one of the flattest spots on the Ceará coast.

Kitesurfing in Ilha do Guajiru

Ilha do Guajiru is a kite village in Itarema, between Fortaleza and Jericoacoara. A long sandbar shelters a large, shallow lagoon, giving flat water with steady wind coming over the bar.

It is a night stop on the Cumbuco to Jericoacoara half of our six-day downwinder: the group arrives from Icaraí de Amontada after the most isolated stretch of the week, and leaves the next morning for Preá.
