The main kite beach of the Jericoacoara area, and the launch point of two of our one-day downwinders.
The spot
Preá is a fishing village just upwind of Jericoacoara, with a long, wide beach where the wind arrives clean off the ocean. It has become the main kite beach of the area, with schools and pousadas lined up behind the sand.
Two of our one-day downwinders launch here: Preá to Guriú (30 km) and Preá to Tatajuba (40 km), both passing Jericoacoara's dune line. The longer routes ride through as well, on the way in from Barrinha or Ilha do Guajiru.
Getting there
Fly to Jericoacoara airport (JJD), about 30 minutes away by road, or drive from Fortaleza in roughly 4.5 hours. Preá is reached by paved road, with no 4x4 needed.
Nearby spots
Barrinha. The quiet village where our gentlest route starts: flat, shallow water and a 20 km ride down to Jericoacoara.
