A fishing port at the mouth of the Coreaú river, on the way from Tatajuba to Barra Grande.
The spot
Camocim is a working fishing town at the mouth of the Coreaú river, the largest town on this stretch of coast. Across the river, Ilha do Amor is a long sandbank of dunes with flat water on the river side.
Our multi-day downwinders pass here on the Tatajuba to Maceió leg: 35 km of wild coastline mixing slightly choppy flats with wave sections, before the night in the fishing village of Maceió.
Getting there
By paved road from Jericoacoara airport (JJD) in about 2 hours, or from Fortaleza in roughly 5.5 hours.
Nearby spots
Maceió. A secluded beach and an authentic fishing town, where the Tatajuba leg ends for the night.
Bitupitá. The last fishing village of Ceará before the Piauí border, passed on the long ride to Barra Grande.
